Dalu Krishnadas has been part of this journey.

His first professional path was different. He completed a degree in hotel management and trained at the Taj Hotel in Bengaluru. He later joined the AIFT Fashion Designing Institute in Bengaluru to study fashion design.
Choreography became his turning point. During an inter-collegiate competition, Dalu created a choreography project for his college. The project won first prize at the national level.
The result brought more opportunities. Other colleges began inviting him to create fashion choreographies.

His work also extended to the JD Institute of Fashion Technology in Kochi. The institute’s fashion students presented collections using themes ranging from khadi and natural dyes to sustainable materials, bridal wear, resort wear and experimental fashion.

Dalu’s work has also reached people with limited representation in mainstream fashion.
In 2017, he groomed transgender men for a fashion show at Queer Fest in Thiruvananthapuram. Fashion designer Roopesh Giri designed the costumes for the show. The event was organised as a curtain-raiser to the Kerala Queer Pride.
The focus was not only on clothing. Organisers wanted participants to gain an opportunity to present themselves professionally and build confidence.
Dalu later worked on another inclusive fashion production in Thiruvananthapuram.
In 2022, the Weavers Village Show at Nishagandhi Auditorium featured more than 250 models. The participants included transgender people, children, elderly people, housewives, differently abled people and professional models.
The show presented sustainable handlooms, traditional weaves and wedding designs under the theme Weaves of India.

His connection with cinema also includes work behind the scenes. For King Liar, Dalu was involved in fashion choreography and casting. The film was directed by Siddique and starred Dileep and Madonna Sebastian. Dalu also appeared in Charminar, directed by Ajith C. Logesh.
His television career includes Malayalee House, a Malayalam reality programme broadcast on Surya TV. Dalu participated in the show alongside contestants from fields including acting, music, modelling and social work.

Dalu responded with the Quarantine Fashion Show 2020, a virtual fashion production.
The show presented models wearing high-fashion clothing while performing everyday activities such as gardening, cycling, cleaning the house and washing cars. The concept brought fashion into the home environment during the lockdown.
It was a different format from the conventional runway.
Instead of a stage, the production used the circumstances of lockdown as part of the presentation.

Training has remained an important part of Dalu’s work.
